Speaking in Gatanga constituency on Sunday, the team led by former Jubilee Party Vice Chair David Murathe called for the immediate prosecution of those implicated in graft.

Former area MP and Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth stressed on the need for the parliament to amend the law to have corruption suspects denied bail.

“There is need to have all those mentioned in graft scandals arrested and charged. Parliament should amend the law to have all those charged with corruption denied bail,” he was quoted by the Standard.

On her side, Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga said that the war has all the support it needs, as it enjoys the backing of both President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition boss Raila Odinga.

She urged parliamentarians, some of whom have been seen siding with suspected corrupt state officials, to resist being used by those being investigated.

“The President and Raila Odinga came together for the unity of this country. They have shown that they are interested in fighting graft,” she said.

The remarks were echoed by Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu and nominated lawmaker Maina Kamanda, who has been leading the anti-Ruto brigade.

The team brought together lawmakers from Jubilee, KANU, ODM and Wiper parties.

Currently, the fight against corruption is being jointly conducted by the Directorates of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Public Prosecution (DPP) and the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC).
