From a by-election that was carried out on Friday August 17 in Baringo south constituency, it's clear that Jubilee Party candidate is carrying the day.
Jubilee Party’s Charles Kamuren is leading in the by-election with results from 128 out of 132 polling stations counted.
By press time, Kamuren was leading with 11,818 votes (57.3 percent) with his closest rival Ms Cynthia Kipchilit of Maendeleo Chap Chap with 8,463 (41.03 per cent).
Chama Cha Mashinani’s candidate Paul Kimaru Motoloi has garnered 328 votes (1.59 percent) while Mr Sylvester Sergon of Republican Labour Party has 15 votes (0.07 percent).
The electoral commission said 20,624 ballots were cast representing a voter turnout of 58.65 percent. The constituency has 35,162 registered voters.
Counting of votes is still underway and will be over before midday. The commission will later announce the winner of the by-election who will assume the office as the member of parliament representing the constituency.
