This comes amid claims that a section of leaders are financing one of the candidates in the race, in a bid to block the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Ochilo Ayacko.

Speaking while in the company of opposition leader Raila Odinga in the county on Thursday, Junet confirmed the claims, saying that the opposed forces want to end the party's dominance in the region.

He alleged that both the office of the Deputy President William Ruto and the county leadership under Governor Okoth Obado are heavily involved in the attempt to turn tables on the former Cabinet Minister.

In a shot apparently aimed at Obado who is in office courtesy of the Orange party and who is reportedly in support of Federal Party of Kenya (FPK) candidate Eddy Oketch, Odinga noted that the party will not entertain such kind of rebellion.

“If You are a Catholic, you devout to it, if you are a Seventh Day Adventist follower or Roho Israel faithful, then you stick to your faith. But you cannot serve two masters,” he was quoted by the Standard.

Odinga kicked off his 2-day campaign in the region, as he drummed support for Ayacko who unsuccessfully vied for the gubernatorial seat in the previous general election.

The seat fell vacant following the death of Ben Oluoch Okello in June 19, with the rerun set for October 8.
