The political landscape in the country is taking shape and Deputy President William Ruto is the man to beat as far as political might, influence and command is anything to go by.
If Ruto opts to retire with his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022, the following are but a few likely politicians to take up the Rift Valley mantle from him;
Kipchumba Murkomen
The Elgeyo Marakwet Senator is a well-taught politician and lawyer who has been in DP Ruto's camp and defence throughout and his influence in the region is tantamount hence his likelihood to succeed the DP.
Jackson Mandago
The Uasin Gishu Governor has been a controversial politician in the Rift Valley region and touted to be the next Kalenjin spokesperson. Mandago is a great supporter of the Deputy President and a fearless political leader who speaks his mind on the position of the Kalenjin community and he is also likely to succeed Ruto.
Gideon Moi
The Baringo Senator is a leader of great repute in the region and being the chair of the vibrant region's party KANU gives him an upper hand and the influence he has on the grassroots. When the man from Sugoi quits active politics, Senator Moi stands a better chance to be the next 'kingpin' in the region.
Isaac Ruto
The former Bomet Governor and Council of Governors (CoG) chair has been a firebrand politician in the Rift Valley region. He commands a reputable section of the voting bloc since he entered to active politics and his political antics earned him political 'elevation' when he formed the Chama cha mashinani (CCM) party in which he managed to mobilize a great grassroots support.
