Starehe MP Charles Njagua popularly known as Jaguar has threatened to deport all Chinese nationals in the country engaging in the retail business.
Jaguar, who was speaking on Monday at his constituency, said that it is unfortunate that the government has not put in place stringent measures to ensure the Chinese and other foreigners don't take up job opportunities from Kenyans.
He reminded the residents that no business will take place if the Chinese nationals continue taking part in the retail business.
The youthful MP noted that the government has been tasked with protecting the taxpayers and foreigners will not take up jobs for the locals.
The remarks come after Interior CS Fred Matiang’i ordered for the deportation of six Chinese Nationals who were conducting trade at the Gikomba market following public uproar.
“Njia ya kusaidia ile container zenu zitoke kule kwa port na mimi najua hiyo ndiyo shida tumekuwa nayo hapa. Mimi mwenyewe naichukua kama jukumu langu kwa sababu mlinichagua ile mrudi kwa biashara sasawa. Lakini kwa sahizi mi najua hata rais akitusaidia hizo mzigo zitoke kama kuna competition ya Wachina hakuna biashara mtafanya. Mimi niliona juzi waziri Matiang’i akisema amedeport wachina sita. Nataka nimwambie leo sisi hatuongei juu ya wachinisi wasita,” Jaguar said in part in a YouTube video shared by NTV.
This loosely translates to; "In order to help your containers to leave the port and that has been one of the problems we have been facing here. I take the responsibility because you elected me to ensure your businesses thrive. For now, I know even if the President will assist all containers to leave the port but there is competition from the Chinese nationals, there is no business you will conduct. The other day I saw CS Matiang’i saying that he has deported six Chinese nationals. I want to say that we do not want to hear about only six Chinese nationals)
The lawmaker also vowed to defend his people as long as he remains in leadership.
