Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi has said that the opposition has been weakened.
According to Mudavadi, the March 9 handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga weakened the vibrant opposition.
According to the NASA co-principal, the handshake hás put some leaders at crossroads. He said the leaders can no longer offer the alternative voice towards the country's governance.
He stated that opposition leaders rarely engage in serious political issues that affect Kenyans.
"The opposition has been rattled and shaken. It is not as vibrant as it should be. We owe Kenyans a strong opposition," Mudavadi said.
He was addressing the press in Kisumu on Sunday after attending a service at the Redeemed Gospel Church.
He added: "People (in the opposition) are now nervous. Even those in Parliament and the Senate cannot speak loudly because they don't know whether or not they will be annoying some people."
Mudavadi alongside other NASA leaders Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetangula had opposed teh handshake between Raila and Uhuru.
The leaders claimed that Raila had not consulted them before meeting with President Uhuru.
