through his lawyer Hams Kiplimo Lagat, Cherargei is suing the papers over a story linking to a new political party.

It was alleged that the senator with other leaders allied to Ruto were planning to form a new political party.

According to Cherargei, the articles are a prime example of ‘fake news.’

The firm stated the use of the words “Ruto’s allies register two new parties" published in the articles, painted their client as untrustworthy, warmonger, against unity, self-seeking, promoter of ethnic jingoism, inept to hold public office, incapable to lead the committee of Human Rights and Legal Affairs, villain, greedy, treacherous and a double-crosser.

In a letter written to the Chief Editor, Daily Nation, and copied to reporters Justus Wanga and David Mwere, the firm stated its client was, "Indeed branded/dubbed as a wrecker of Jubilee party and unity, selfish politician, corrupt; criminal and an abomination".

“The author (s) spiritedly cajoled the readers and unknowing members of the public to the detriment of our client by depicting him as a rubble rouser against Jubilee party unity and national unity, selfish, corrupt, criminal and a fiend," the letter said.

The papers are yet to respond to the lawsuit.
