The angry locals said traders who depend on electricity to operate their businesses have been forced to close the business due to lack of power.

Led by Boulate Ngare and Alloys Asiago the locals on Wednesday while speaking at Magombo market, they said locals will be forced to go on rampage should the relevant officials fail to ensure 24 hours presence of electricity.

"We are in the dark because Kenya Power officials have work around the clock to ensure we have electricity 24 hours a day. On Monday we will have to go on a rampage if KPLC officials won't have connected the area with power," said Ngare.

She appealed to locals to turn up on Monday to protest.

According to Mr Asiago, some of the electricity poles have fallen and the KPLC officials are doing nothing.

He further claimed that officials who he declined to name have been demanding for a bribe before they will connect the area with power.

"During this rain season, traders have suffered losses due to lack of power to run their businesses," he noted.
