Just days after the Supreme Court annulled the Wajir West 2017 legislative election, big names have surfaced to express interest in the vacant position.
Among the seasoned politicians who have declared an interest in the position is the former MP, Abdikadir Ore Ahmed, who now says he is the best fix for the constituency.
The decision to vie for the position is a surprising one given the fact that he had publicly declared that he would not be seeking re-election in the build-up to the 2017 elections.
However, speaking to Kulan Post, Abdikadir revealed that his initial decision emanated from a unity deal bringing together several communities residing in Wajir West.
"I didn't want to scuttle the decision of the elders in the last general election," he said, adding that he put his hat in the ring, " to offer a better alternative, " the former MP stated as quoted.
Amid the developments, Wajir West immediate former MP Ahmed Kolosh has vowed to win the by-election while sending a strong message to his rivals to prepare for a tough face-off.
