Traders at the Gikomba market in Nairobi are trying to salvage their items after a fire broke out.
In an exclusive interview, one of the traders said he was called at 4:30am with reports that their stalls were on fire.
"Niliamshwa kitu 4:30 ati kunaungua, saa hii tunajaribu kuokoa mali zetu," Josephat Kinuthia, the trader, said.
It is still not clear what caused the Wednesday morning fire.
"Fire engines came and tried to put it out. The damage is not so much," Kinuthia added.
The area which was razed down, Line 42, is dotted with stalls which store shoes.
Traders called on the government to do through investigations.
"We want the DCI to investigate these fire incidents. There are people behind it," another trader, only identified as Wanjiru, said.
