Unidentified Chinese contractor chased a Kenyan casual worker with a machete after a disagreement, it has emerged.
Photos circulated on social media showed the Chinese national working along Kisii-Ahero highway visibly angered with the Kenyan even though the victim is not visible.
Blogger Eugene took on Facebook to condemn the incident, urging Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i to investigate the bizarre incident at Mosocho in Kitutu Chache South.
"This is impunity of the highest order. We cannot accommodate fellows who in turn prejudices our people. This fellow should be reported."
A local, who spoke in confidence with the reporter, said the two had a slight disagreement before the incident.
"Was attending errands in a local shop and certainly saw the man running after the poor African. Onlookers made noise thus scaring the attacker," he said.
Apparently, the matter has not been reported to any police station and the identity of involved parties remains mysterious.
Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka denied knowledge of the incident but urged police to investigate it.
"What I know is that the Mosocho-Oyugis road is under construction but I've not heard the matter," he said.
The road was launched last year but President Uhuru Kenyatta and is set to connect Ahero and Migori via Kisii.
The incident takes place amid deportation of Chinese nationals in the country working without permit.
