He starred for the national team, Harambee Stars, in the absence of captain Victor Wanyama. He put a good show against the Black Stars of Ghana, helping them win 1-0.

Sadio Berahino

Berahino scored after only 40 minutes for his Burundi side on his first match against Gabon. The match ended in a 1-1 draw after Emerick Aubameyang equalized, but Berahino showed that he has all it needs to be the star man for the Burundi side.

Youssef En-Nesyri

He scored two goals as the Atlas Lions downed Malawi 3-0 in Casablanca. The 21-year-old hasn’t always appeared to have had the faith of Herve Renard—he started the World Cup as Morocco’s fourth-choice striker—but he justified his starting spot on Saturday.

Mohammed Salah

He put the World Cup disappointment behind him and put a good show against Niger, scoring twice, assisting twice and dictating the match. He also missed two penalties during the match, but it mattered little as they cruised to a 6-0 victory.

Samuel Kalu

He played his first match for Nigeria as they took on Seychelles in Victoria. The wide man was good throughout the match and troubled the opponents with his footwork and dribbling ability. He won a penalty, which was converted by Odion Ighalo, and is already helping supporters forget the retired Victor Moses.
