Narc Kenya Leader Martha Karua has urged incoming Inspector General (IG) of police Hillary Mutyambai to keep his promises after taking over from Joseph Boinett.
In a tweet on Tuesday, Karua, who has been very vocal on matters of national interest, said that she will keep reminding the new IG of the pledges he made when he took the oath of office.
“Music to our ears! Will keep reminding you of this pledge @PoliceKE,” read her tweet.
In his acceptance speech, Mutyambai promised to serve the people of Kenya without any form of fear or favor following his appointment.
“As I assume office as the new IG, I am conversant with the security threats our country still faces, especially terrorism, organized crime, corruption, cattle rustling among others. Multi-agency approach still remains the best way to tackle these challenges,” he said.
He also said that he will support the construction of new police stations across the country following his appointment. Mutyambai added that he will oversee the renovation of the old police stations.
The new IG is expected to address a number of issues in the police department. President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked him to deliver his duties with diligence after being handed the new role in government.
