Police have revealed what led to a Pwani University student being stabbed seven times by her lover early this week.
The third-year student Naomi Chepkemboi is battling for her life at Kilifi County Referral Hospital after being attacked by her lover for allegedly rejecting his upkeep cash.
According to police reports, the suspect, Hillary Kipkoech, sent Naomi Sh3,200.
While confirming the incident, Kilifi County Police Commander Patrick Okeri said that Kipkoech travelled from Nairobi to Kilifi to demand answers why Chepkemboi had returned money meant to care for their child.
“The man travelled to Bomet to access his child but the girl’s parents did not allow him,” Okeri said as reported by Baraka FM.
The suspect is a student at Kenyatta University and allegedly used three knives to attack his lover who was rescued by fellow students and taken to Kilifi County Referral Hospital.
The incident later forced some students led by Fikirini Jacobs, their leader, to storm the health facility alleging that the victim was not being attended to.
Fikirini was arrested and taken to Kilifi police station for a short time.
“Released! I am safe and sound. Only concerned with the health of Naomi Chepkemboi. I will be updating you on the treatment progress. Good evening,” the student leader posted on Facebook after being released.
