Kisii County Governor James Ongwae on Friday snubbed Deputy President William Ruto who was in the county to preside over a graduation ceremony at Kisii University.
Ongwae was nowhere to be seen at Kisii Sports Club where other leaders including Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi had convened to welcome DP Ruto.
Ongwae's decision to disappear from meeting DP Ruto indicates that he is scared of being implicated a traitor, by the electorates who overwhelmingly voted for the ODM party leader Raila Odinga.
"Ongwae is scared of expulsion from ODM party hence his decision to snub DP Ruto," said Tabaka ward MCA Daniel Apepo.
He said Ongwae should not be scared of anyone since the people of Kisii elected him and not ODM party.
Recently ODM party disciplinary committee met and agreed to expel a section of the leaders who were sponsored by ODM party during the last year's polls from the party.
Ongwae is keen to ensure he is not summoned to appear before the disciplinary committee for associating with DP Ruto who is perceived to be dishing out money to buy opposition allied leaders to help him in his bid for presidency come 2022.
