A 19-year-old man was on Monday evening arrested for allegedly sodomising a seven-year-old boy in Kathaana Matungulu sub-county, Machakos county.
The incident was confirmed by Nguluni location chief Johnbosco Ndambuki who said that the incident took place at around 5:30 pm.
Ndambuki said that the suspect is said to be of unsound mind.
"Last evening at around 5:30 pm, a little boy was forcefully sodomised by a 19-year-old boy. The man was handed to the police and is currently in custody", said Ndambuki.
The man is held at Tala police station awaiting arraignment in court today.
The boy, a standard one pupil at Utooni primary is receiving treatment at Kangundo level four hospital.
Cases of defilement have been on the rise in this sub-county with many being rampant in clubs and restaurants.
Last week, a middle-aged man was nabbed for defiling little girls aged between five and seven years in Matuu in the same sub-county.
The man accused of waylaying his victims was frogmarched by an irate crowd to Matungulu Deputy County Commissioner's office and later handed over to the police.
Leaders and residents have for a long time been calling for stringent measures to be taken against defilers.
