Majority leader Aden Duale has confirmed that the relationship between President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto is still intact claiming that they are close confidants who cannot to betray each other.
In an exclusive interview with Daily Nation, Duale downplayed the looming split in the ruling party claiming that Jubilee will have their formidable presidential candidate in 2022.
“Personally, I have worked with the President and Dr Ruto for over 15 years now. As a close confidant to both, I can assure you that all is well in our party,” said Duale.
He further revealed that there was no written MOU that bound president and deputy president in 2013, thus Dp Ruto will have to seek presidency base on his development record working under his boos.
“There are no political debts owed to anyone. But the Jubilee rank and file in all our strongholds are happy with the development record of the President and his deputy,” added Duale.
Duale’s statement has come when the ruling party has of late been experiencing the succession politics turmoil when the section of jubilee members including former vice chair David Murathe.
Majority leader said that the political conflicts emanating in the party are common with Kenyan political landscape, thus cannot affect the relationship of the president and Dp Ruto in regards to the succession politics.
