Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos has revealed the reason why Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen's aide Benson Kiptire was murdered.
The deceased was allegedly kidnapped at his shop in Eldoret town on Friday and taken to an unknown place before he was discovered dead.
Speaking in Eldoret town on Monday, Tolgos cast aspersion of the police claiming they killed him because they suspected that he is involved in cattle rustling.
"Our people including chiefs, security personnel have been given enough fear of criminals who have been known for killing and stealing animals. I wonder why they had to take away his life yet he is not involved," Togos stated.
"I want to believe that the killing of Kiptire is connected to cattle rustling which he never involved himself with. I have known him for not having any criminal record added the governor further asking "Why should we lose the life of an innocent person?"
Tolgos called on the police to conduct thorough investigations and bring to book those who were involved in his death before his body is buried.
His body was on Friday found at Kamatira forest in West Pokot County. The body of the deceased was thereafter, transferred to the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret town as burial plans are underway.
