As we approach the Christmas and New Year celebrations, let's remember that not all of us will get the opportunity to enjoy it too.

Here are the groups of people who will either be too busy to celebrate or naturally unable.

1. Parents

Parents whose children are set to join their secondary, primary or elementary schools early next year are already a troubled lot.

Though we all have a reason to celebrate, they will hardly be able to do it judging by the heavy spending awaiting them in January courtesy of school fees and admission requirements.

Apart from the saving, they are also anticipating the trouble of long queues at the uniform and bookshops, and the long and tiring admission processes at the new institutions.

This obviously takes away the celebration mood.

2. Matatu operators

Our friends in the transport sector are currently the biggest winners as the business booms courtesy of the massive exodus as people travel upcountry.

The same will be the case on both Christmas and New Year celebration days, meaning that they will be busy all through and will not be able to join their relatives for the celebrations.

However, they will have reaped big and earned a handsome bonus.

3. Police

This season is also known to come with an increase in road carnages and crime, resulting in heavy deployment of law enforcers.

And in line with their oath to protect Kenyans and their property at all times, the latter will be busy watching over Kenyans and their safety as they (Kenyans) celebrate.

4. The poor and sick

They might not be able to celebrate due to the lack of resources needed to back up the same or inability to do it due to bad health.

This calls for the intervention of Kenyans to make them get a reason to celebrate.

Let's pray for the sick and step in to share the little we have with the less fortunate, let's give them a reason to smile too.
