The African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa AIPCA in Nakuru has welcomed the presidential directive to have maize farmers paid and action taken against those who were paid irregularly.
Addressing media in Nakuru on Wednesday, Bishop Naftaly Thuku of AIPCA Nakuru North Diocese said the directive will come as a relief for unpaid farmers.
Bishop Thuku, who was meeting AIPCA deacons at AIPCA Bishop Mureithi Cathedral in Nakuru town, said the government must protect farmers.
“Farmers have for a long time toiled to have a good harvest and as such the government must ensure they get good pay,” he said.
This comes as Agriculture CS Mwangi Kiunjuri called on investigative officers to act on those implicated in a payment scandal by the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB).
The bishop also said that AIPCA church is fully behind the fight on corruption as spearheaded by the president.
