Deputy President William Ruto has warned opposition leaders led by Raila Odinga against lecturing the Jubilee administration over its system of governance and the fight against graft.
The DP argued that the opposition did not take part in campaigning for President Uhuru Kenyatta in the run-up to the 2017 elections, adding that only those who supported Uhuru's re-election took part in the process of forming the government.
Ruto was speaking during a church service in Mwiki, Kasarani Constituency which was attended by a group of politicians including Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa.
"All those who have lined themselves up politicking in newspapers and television stations did not support President Uhuru Kenyatta. They did not support Jubilee. Now they want to lecture us on how we are going to deliver services, how we are going to fight corruption and govern, yet they were absent when we propelled Jubilee into power," said Ruto.
The Deputy President further argued that the opposition had failed to regroup after the 2017 elections to form a formidable outfit in preparation for the next general elections, and urged them to put their house in order before giving the ruling coalition unsolicited counsel.
"Instead of lecturing us, please, first go and put your house in order," added Ruto.
The leaders who had accompanied the DP drummed up support for his (Ruto's) 2022 presidential bid, noting that he was the best candidate to succeed President Uhuru.
