The woman who upon questioning revealed her name as Elizabeth Wanja had allegedly shoplifted from Kwetu shop which allows for self-service.

"I had seen the woman hiding something between her thighs on CCTV. At first, I was not really sure but when she was exiting I noticed she was nervous and was not carrying anything despite the fact that I saw her taking something from the shelf," Judith Chepkemoi, a cashier at the shop narrated.

Chepkemoi then instructed a security guard to search the woman and that is when the two-kilogram maize flour was retrieved from her thighs.

According to the security guard Jared Mogaka, the lady was wearing a short inside where she had placed the maize flour for support.

The woman had earlier on resisted being searched before she was forced by the security guard. She was then taken to a private room by the cashier where she was searched to see if she had shoplifted any other products. A one-kilogram packet of sugar was also retrieved from her jacket.

"Incidences of shoplifting have been on the rise of late. We are getting a lot of loss because of unaccounted products," Chepkemoi said.

The woman who pleaded for forgiven was roughened up before she was forced to pay for the maize flour. The sugar was returned to the shelf as she could not afford to pay for both.
