Mandera Governor Ali Roba has cried foul over the national government's move to cut down county budgetary allocations for the Financial Year 2018/2019.
Roba says that the budget cuts will hamper realisation of development projects in counties.
According to the Jubilee governor, it was not wise for the national government to slash counties budget.
The governor observes that Kenyans will suffer as a result of the budgetary cuts.
"Service delivery in counties is going to be paralysed following the National Treasury decision to cut on budgets," he told journalists in Mandera Town on Saturday.
The Governor asked Kenyans to tighten their belts and expect some critical services to be cut off.
He said that the national government should not have slashed the county budget in the cuts approved under the Finance Bill 2018 that is now law.
Roba criticised MPs for failing to stop the budgetary cuts.
"The MPs failed Kenyans by approving the budgetary cuts which now means that service delivery will be hampered especially in counties," he said.
Counties budget was slashed by Sh 9.2 Billion in budget cuts that Parliament approved last week.
The Council of Governors (COG) has since warned of possible service disruption in counties.
The approvals were made in the Finance Bill 2018 that is now law.
