A middle-aged man has died in a road accident along Kangundo - Machakos road at Kyamwilu in Machakos County.
The man died on the spot while two of his children sustained serious injuries during the Wednesday night's incident.
The accident involved a 14-seater passenger matatu and a motorcycle.
The incident was confirmed by Ngelani assistant chief Noel Kilonzo who said the deceased was carrying his two children at the time of the accident.
Kilonzo said the man was riding the motorcycle towards Machakos general direction from Kenol when he was hit by the matatu which was moving towards the opposite direction.
"The matatu tried to negotiate the corners fruitlessly thereby hitting the motorbike. The motorcyclist lost his life on the spot due to the impact, but his two passengers sustained serious injuries," Kilonzo said.
He spoke to this writer on the phone on Thursday.
Kilonzo said those who were in the matatu escaped unhurt.
He said the injured children were rushed to Machakos Level 5 Hospital for treatment while the deceased's body moved to the same hospital's mortuary.
Kilonzo urged motorists plying the route to be more cautious when approaching corners on the road to avert accidents.
The matatu and motorcycle's wreckage was towed to Machakos police station awaiting inspection.
