Residents of Kebirigo in Nyamira County on Sunday watched a free wrestling match after a man engaged in a physical fight with niece over a piece of land.
Trouble started when the man, Emmanuel Obwocha sold a piece of land to a second buyer yet he had sold the land to his brother George Arwanga Kombo.
"Obwocha sold the land to a different person yet he had sold it to his elder brother. This angered Judy Kemunto, Kombo's elder daughter prompting to the fight," said Pius Magero.
Kemunto accused Obwocha for selling the land twice.
"I will not tolerate the conman to take away what belongs to us. I fought him to send a warning that he won't know piece if he won't change his mind and surrender the land to us," she said.
However, Obwocha said he had only leased the land to Kombo.
Area assistant chief Raphael Basiri said he summoned Kombo and Obwocha to appear in his office on Monday evening.
"I will meet with the two brothers on Monday before giving a detailed report," he said.
The chief lauded members of the public who intervened to stop Kemunto and Obwocha from fighting.
He confirmed that the second buyer has already be stopped from occupying the land.
