According to Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu, the man was wearing a t-shirt branded with the 'Kitaeleweka' movement message.

Kitaeleweka, within political circles, is believed to be a group of rich and powerful people from Mt Kenya region, previously known as Mt Kenya Mafia, which is opposed to DP Ruto's 2022 presidential bid.

The MP has, however, been the public face of the group as he shares its message and position openly on his facebook page.

On the arrests, Ngunjiri blamed it on DP Ruto's security.

"This morning I get a call. Apparently, a guy called Albert Nderitu from Mukurweini showed up at the Fundraising where Ruto was chief guest wearing a ‘Kieleweke/Big4First’ t-shirt. DP Ruto’s ‘hawk-eyed’ security detail spotted him in the crowd & ordered the local OCPD to arrest him. He was taken to Mukurweini Police Station and spent the night. This morning he’s been asked for a 50k cash bond," Ngunjiri said.

Ruto's spokesperson David Mugonyi hs however dismissed the MP's claim saying his boss' security detail has nothing to do with the case.
