An Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party politician has claimed that Deputy President William Ruto's move to tour the Gusii region several times is a clear indication that he is imposing himself on residents in the region.
This comes as DP Ruto is expected to tour West Mugirango and Borabu constituencies in Nyamira County today (Friday).
Samuel Omwando, who is the Kisii County ODM chairman argued that the DP will not get the region's votes in the 2022 polls despite his numerous trips to the region.
"DP Ruto is committed to ensuring he imposes himself on Gusii residents. I wish to remind him that Nyamira and Kisii counties remain opposition strongholds and therefore, his trips won't bear any fruits," said Omwando.
Omwando who unsuccessfully vied for the Kitutu Chache South MP seat during the August 8, 2017 polls argued that despite DP Ruto being hosted by opposition-allied lawmakers in Nyamira today, it doesn't mean that the region is ready to support his presidential bid.
"Ruto being hosted by NASA legislators doesn't mean he will penetrate Gusii region politics. He is a man of questionable integrity who must be sent home in the 2022 general elections," he added.
