Siaya Senator James Orengo has sent a message to Harambee Stars as they prepare to take on the Desert Foxes of Algeria later tonight.
In a tweet, Orengo underscored the importance of Harambee Stars' participation in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON), adding that the team should strive to provide an excellent performance.
"Harambee Stars; today and the coming weeks will be important for you to show Africa and the world how good you are. May good fortune and success follow you in this edition of the African Cup of Nations, " Senator Orengo posted.
Harambee Stars will be participating in their first AFCON since 2004.
All the players who will represent the country in Cairo, Egypt, have never graced the continental tournament and will be seeking to make their mark and impress.
Political leaders led by President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto and veteran opposition leader Raila Odinga have all rallied behind the Stars.
Kenya impressed during the qualifiers that saw the country beat AFCON giants Ghana in Nairobi, at the Kasarani Stadium.
