In what now seems to be routine meetings, President Uhuru Kenyatta held brief sideline talks with his political nemesis cum friend Raila Odinga in the ongoing AU-NEPAD summit in the Ethiopia capital Addis Ababa.

In a photo making rounds on social media, the two political protagonists are seen chatting in the Chambers as Mr Kenyatta smiles back. Both leaders arrived in Ethiopia on Saturday.

And on his Twitter, Odinga said: "Day 2 at the #AUSummit Exchanging ideas and action plans for the continent this year. I'm also happy to add that the NEPAD office is now known as the African Union Development Agency (AUDA) and I will be working hand in hand with them to ensure our projects come to fruition."

"The future is indeed very bright for our continent and we must continue pulling together as a people for greater success. #AUSummit."

Last month, Odinga also met Uhuru in the Neighbouring DR Congo during the inauguration of President Felix Tshisekedi, who took over from Joseph Kabila after 18 years at the realm.

In January, Raila also hosted Uhuru in Kisumu for dinner after the two shared podium at Mr Bruce Odhiambo's funeral in Muhoroni. The frequent meetings between the duo have been associated with 2022 succession politics.

At Ethiopia, Mr Odinga also held brief meeting with his longtime friend and business partner Cyril Ramaphosa, the president of the Republic of South Africa.
