At Kisii on Thursday, Ruto, while indirectly referring to Raila, said he's ready to face the former PM.

"Our competitors are hiding in fake news and paid opinion polls. They do not have any development record," said Ruto, adding that media propaganda will not thrive.

He added: "They should come and face me on the ground. I am not interested in sideshows and propaganda."

His sentiments comes barely a week after he asked Raila to back his 2022 bid arguing that he took PM position that was meant for him.

The DP also added that he does not fear anyone other than his God.

"It's untrue that sons of the peasants can't be rich or can't ascend to power. I am with people and they will decide."

So bitter has been the DP over Raila's handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta which his allies insist was a broader scheme to thwart his 2022 chances.
