Addressing a crowd in Nyeri Town in his Kikuyu mother tongue on Thursday, Uhuru bashed some leaders pushing him to declare his 2022 plans, adding that what will come out of him will send many back to the drawing board.

This is despite Uhuru having repeatedly vowed to endorse Ruto in 2022, as per their memorandum agreement in 2013.

“Some think I have kept quiet because I am not capable of talking politics. I am still a politician. They will be shocked when that time comes, but for now I want to concentrate on delivering my pledges to Kenyans,'' he was quoted by the Standard.

The remark seems to have threatened Ruto's allies who have been anticipating Uhuru's support to propel the DP to power.

Speaking on Friday, the leaders remained optimistic that Uhuru will keep his side of the promise despite the changing climate ahead of the much-anticipated race.

“Within our party ranks, we are optimistic that our party leader will endorse his deputy to succeed him when he retires in 2022 and we are not worried of what is being played in the public gallery," Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen is quoted by the Standard.

According to Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot, there is no need for alarm as according to him, the shocker will be Uhuru endorsing Ruto.

“There is a narrative which is being pushed by detractors of the DP that Uhuru will not endorse him and they should be ready to receive the shock of their lives when President Kenyatta declares Ruto Tosha,” he told the paper.
