The two who were guarding shops and chemists at Ywaya Trading Center in Sigomere were reportedly killed when robbers struck at around 3am on Saturday dawn.

Confirming the incident, Siaya County Commissioner Michael Tialal noted that the third security guard went missing and is yet to be traced.

He said that the latter's phone is not hoing through and his whereabouts cannot be traced even after reporting to work on Friday evening.

Tialal added that details on the incident remain scanty, but noted that investigations to unravel what really happened and bring the culprits to book have began.

"We are yet to get more details on how the incident happened. Although our county security committee is on the ground. I have also sent the County Criminal Investigation Officer to look into the case," he was quoted by the Standard.

He said that the robbers apparently stole from the shops and chemists and abducted the two before killing them and dumping their bodies on the Ugunja-Mumias border.

Tialal said that the bodies were found with deep knife cuts and blows from blunt objects.
