People visit each other for various reasons. Some visit to strengthen the family ties, others just visit to satisfy their curiosity, while some may visit to comfort the bereaved.

However, some people living in the city are never quick to welcome visits from their relatives living in the countryside due to different reasons:

1. Financial cost

With the high cost of living in Kenya, most people residing in the city like to plan with the little they earn to make ends meet.

When relatives or friends from the countryside want to visit, it means they will have to adjust their tight budget.

A few will be happy about this. Besides, when the visitors leave, most of them expect bus fare and some shopping.

2. Privacy

Most city dwellers love their privacy. They fear that the whole village might know about their new car or furniture, or their progress in life.

Some never want other people to know how much they are struggling in the city. For this reason, they prefer to live privately.

3. Strengthening of ties

When relatives and friends come to visit, ties are strengthened.

This is not as positive as it appears. On the flip side, in case any trouble arises back at home, they already know how lavishly you live in the city.

You are compelled to help to be on the safe side.
