Kisii Catholic Bishop Joseph Mairura has attacked politicians from the region for failing to deliver to meet the electorates' expectations.
Mairura while speaking at Nyambera primary school on Saturday regretted that politicians have embarked on embezzling public funds instead of being development champions.
"It is shameful for the elected leaders from the region to go missing after they were declared winners last year. Public funds being embezzled by the greedy politicians must be recovered," he said.
He urged the electorates to ensure leaders who have prioritized their stomachs are voted out in 2022.
The Bishop condemned elected leaders who have turned to be cartels to grab public lands, engage in dubious dealings with an aim of accumulating wealth for the benefit of their own families.
"Residents' needs should be put first but, in Kisii region, our leaders are doing the opposite. It is high time voters to open up eyes and ensure lazy, corrupt leaders and sent home permanently in 2022," he stated.
He challenged Kisii County government under the leadership of Governor James Ongwae to stop ignoring the electorates.
"Corruption will derail development in Kisii County. Ongwae should move with speed to sack corrupt employees," said Mairura.
