The decision by IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati to hand over KIEMS kits to a personal consultant belied to be his son may have compromised August 8th polls, it has now emerged.
Chebukati, who is now fighting for his position, is said to have disregarded official advice from the commission's IT experts and took the kits along with passwords to the consultant for testing.
While the outcome from the testing raised critical questions that precipitated his decision to seek answers from OT Morpho, his decision to ignore IT experts advice caused a stir.
After disclosing his findings with the company, Chebukati was however tasked to reveal the person behind the report, two weeks to polls.
Thereafter, Chebukati shared the findings with the commission and upon being asked about the origin, he referred the consultant as his relative.
Earlier, Chebukati had reportedly asked his son, who was studying IT in the US to work with IEBC but he is said to have declined the offer.
Later all, the results generated by the KIEMS kits could form the basis in Raila Odinga's petition at the Supreme Court which would nullify President Uhuru Kenyatta's victory.
