Wambui, a student at Utalii College in Nairobi, reportedly hired five men to discipline her lover Dennis Okumu over a domestic dispute.

Her mother Rosemary Nyawira and family member Michael Muriuki are said to have caused the fateful death of Okumu between February 3, 2018, within Karatiana township.

According to Corporal Eliud Odhiambo, a police investigator, Wambui testified of hiring men meant to discipline her lover over a love affair gone sour following several cases of violence from the deceased.

“The mother, who works at a Karatina Hospital, confessed to the crime. The deceased had taken supper at his in-laws’ home and was killed while being escorted to where he was to sleep,” said Mr Odhiambo as quoted by Daily Nation.

The body of the late Okumu, 23, a former tout in Githurai, was dumped at Kirimara in Mathira East sub-county by a motorbike rider who was paid Sh3,000 by Wambui's mother.

“The family had hired five assailants to discipline the deceased but it turned tragic and they ended up killing him,” added Odhiambo

According to the court, the body had five stab wounds in the neck, his eyes had been gouged out and some of his front teeth were missing.

The hearing of the case will be on June 4, 2019.
