Deputy President William Ruto returns to Nyamira on Friday amid a divided house, with his support from the region now being in a limbo.
Borabu MP Ben Momanyi on Friday confirmed Dr Ruto's trip, which comes amid amid fallout claims between him and powerful interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i.
"We shall be hosting the DP on Friday kindly come in numbers. Some of you may think that I have joined Tangatanga but that's not the case," he said, perhaps with expected caution.
Over the last few weeks, several Gusii leaders have either gone silent on Dr Ruto's bid or backed Dr Fred Matiang'i's quest for the top seat.
At Kitutu Chache North on Friday, MP Richard Onyonka sensationally claimed that the decision by Raila Odinga to support Matiang'i's new roles may have won the hearts of many Kisiis.
"Prime Minister, we are happy that you are supporting our son. That alone makes us happy with you. The support is important because some people are now fighting him. We will not abandon you," he said after defecting from Ruto's camp.
Dr Matiang'i was elevated by President Uhuru Kenyatta to chair powerful National Development and Communication Cabinet Committee, an idea that was supported by Raila.
At the moment, only South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro who is openly supporting Dr Ruto, with other MPs either joining Raila and Matiang'i camp or going mute.
