Former Kiambu County Governor William Kabogo has been one of Deputy President (DP) William Ruto's critics in the recent past.
Kabogo once said that it will not be automatic for Mt Kenya region to support DP Ruto's 2022 presidential ambition.
The former Governor had claimed that Ruto just like others has to work for the Mt Keny votes in 2022.
Kabogo has also been a critic of team 'tanga tanga' that is associated with the Deputy President.
However, Kabogo's recent action has elicited many questions and opened a debate that he could be eyeing to be Ruto's presidential running mate in the coming 2022 general election.
On Sunday, Kabogo accompanied DP Ruto to church service at the Israel Assembly of God in Molo, Nakuru county.
During the church service, Kabogo is said to have asked DP Ruto to be firm in his 2022 ambition.
It will not be a surprise if Kabogo agrees to work with Ruto in 2022 election.
The former Governor has a big say in Mt Kenya politics and could be a stepping stone for Ruto to ascend to power in 2022.
Kabogo is also seen as the potential Mt Kenya politician to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta as the region's political kingpin and his influence could be a plus for Ruto if they strike a political deal.
With his high political bargaining power in Mt Kenya politics, Kabogo will now be the focus of the raging 2022 succession politics.
In past media interview, the former governor ruled out eyeing to contest the Kiambu governor seat in 2022 election.
Kabogo said he is a national leader and his focus is on national politics.
The former Governor had not responded to inquiries sent to his social media platforms (Facebook and Twitter) by this writer on whether he plans to work with DP Ruto by the time of this publication.
It is a matter of wait and sees if Kabogo and DP Ruto shall strike a political deal ahead of the much anticipated 2022 general election.
