Kenyans have taken to social media to express their take after a school in Nairobi sent away a Rastafarian girl over her dreadlocks.
The girl was admitted as a Form One student and had already attended two classes as well as paying Sh12,000 for tuition fees.
According to her parents, they had indicated in her admission documents that she belongs to the Rastafarian movement but the school administration could hear none of this.
Makeda Ndinda's stay at Olympic High School was short lived after the school administration told her to choose between education and her dreadlocks.
The only thing that made her look different from others is her dreadlocks, which were folded and wrapped in a turban, a symbol of her Rastafarian faith and family background.
The father's efforts to reach education officials to have his daughter remain reportedly met a deaf ear as they have maintained earlier position by the school administration.
A section of the public claims it is a violation of her rights as a Rastafarian while others say the school is right to expect pupils to wear standard uniforms.
