Former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has poured cold water on government's renewed fight against graft
According to Muthama, the war against corruption might not be successful if some individuals involved are not being arrested and taken to court.
In a phone interview on Tuesday, Muthama said that only a handful of suspects have been taken to court while many allegedly linked to mega graft scandals care walking free in the streets.
The former senator said that unless big people are arrested and put behind bars the whole process remains a big joke.
"It is interesting because some people are walking free when there is massive evidence that they have looted public coffers, " he said.
Muthama asked the Director of Criminal Investigation (DCI) and the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) to go for all suspects linked to graft.
Muthama wondered why it is taking too long for state agencies to arrest graft suspects.
"Kenyans patience is quickly running out and they want to see big names being put behind bars," he added.
He asked the DCI, EACC and DPP to be fearless and confront all those stealing from public coffers.
Muthama further asked the agencies to put more focus on counties, saying that some governors are perpetuating the vice.
He warned that the country could soon plunge into economic crisis if looters are not stopped.
Muthama has since called on the EACC to arrest Governor Alfred Mutua over graft.
He claims that he has evidence to show that Governor Mutua has allegedly embezzled county funds.
Muthama, a strong critic of Mutua has even threatened to mobilize residents to arrest Mutua if the DPP and EACC fail to apprehend him.
