Raila says that Duale’s claims are meaningless and that his push for a constitutional amendment is for Kenyans.

According to the former Prime Minister, the issues facing the country are not about DP Ruto or an individual but concerns of Kenyans.

“The referendum push is for the interests of Kenyans and is part of the unity deal that came with the March 9 handshake,” Raila.

The ODM Party leader who spoke in Migori on Thursday said that referendum push is unstoppable and asked Kenyans to prepare for it.

According to Raila, the referendum is meant to amend the structure of governance of the country.

Duale has been quoted claiming that Raila is allegedly pushing for a referendum to block DP Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.

The Garissa MP further claims that Raila is afraid of battling with Ruto in 2022 and wants the constitution changed to favor him.

Duale is among politicians opposed to the referendum and have vowed to fight the proposal.

Debate on the referendum has heated up with President Uhuru Kenyatta yet to make any comment.
