Three people are nursing serious injuries in Kirinyaga East Sub County, Kirinyaga County, after allegedly being assaulted by a rogue Adminstration Police (AP) officer.
The officer allegedly descended on Kiamutungu Market on Friday night, and began indiscriminately hitting everyone he came across using his gun.
The 10pm incident left the three nursing broken jaws, ribs and vomiting blood, while others sustained minor injuries while fleeing in the densely populated market.
The resident who was vomiting blood was found lying in a ditch after his encounter with the officer whose intentions remain unknown.
The incident was confirmed by Sub County Police Commander Anthony Njoka, who, however, refused to comment on the matter, referring the press to Sub County AP Commander Njoka Mukuru.
He noted that the incident has, however, been reported to the police.
"It’s true this incident has been reported but the AP Sub-County Commander Njoka Mukuru should be the right person to comment on his officer,” he was quoted by the Standard.
The injured were taken to a private hospital since medics in public health facilities are on strike.
