The sister of David Mwai, a key suspect in the cold-blood shooting of former Garissa CEC Idriss Muktar, has made a shocking revelation about a call that her brother made to her before being found dead in a police cell.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, she said that Mwai called her to ask for her advice on a deal that an officer had made to him.
She says that Mwai told her that he had been given an offer by an officer to escape, an offer that the sister asked him to reject as he had already confessed to pulling the trigger.
The key suspect was found dead in a cell with police claiming that he committed suicide, an explanation that the family of the dead suspect has strongly rebuffed.
Idriss Muktar was shot at night as he set to drive home after prayers.
A number of suspects have been arrested as investigations into the attempted assassination.
Garissa Governor Ali Bunow Korane was arrested last week and interrogated over the shooting.
He maintains that he had nothing to do with the shooting.
