Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has hailed Chief Justice David Maraga following his decision to suspend a magistrate who gave his Kiambu counterpart Ferdinand Waititu an anticipatory bail.
In a post on his Facebook page, Sonko complimented the CJ for the bold move.
He further went ahead to bash on Waititu accusing him of stealing billions of shillings belonging to Kiambu County.
"RESTORING JUDICIAL CONFIDENCE. My compliments to the President of the Supreme court of Kenya Hon. Chief Justice David Maraga on this great move. How on earth does a magistrate grants free bond to a suspect who has stolen billions even after sufficient evidence is presented (sic)," said Sonko.
Maraga had on Friday directed the magistrate to hand over all he posses to the Judiciary for breaching the code of conduct.
“Mr Khaemba conducted himself in a manner likely to suggest that he has personal interest in the matter. It was public knowledge that Mr Khaemba was on sick leave as the same was announced to litigants during the morning briefing,” reads part of the letter from Maraga quoted by Daily Nation.
Moments after being suspended, the magistrate resigned pointing out that he will not continue holding a position he is not sure of and which he will not be paid.
