As a social media user, you should be alert to avoid falling victim of cybercrime which has gained deeper roots, especially on Facebook.

Here are three ways people get scammed on social media;

1. False relationships

Both men and women are highly affected by this tactic employed by online scammers.

Some create female's profiles just to lure men into spending on them, and additionally, they have female apprentices who help them keep the deal seem real.

Desperate ladies also often fall victims to these scams as well.

2. Identity theft

Some create accounts pretending to be your close relative or friend before they begin sending convincing information and messages until you trust that they are the right person.

With this, they can get important details about you, especially your financial or job information through which they will hold you down.

3. Crazy offers

This usually happens when someone online convinces you that they import specific goods from elsewhere at very low and cheaper prices that you can hardly resist.

They convince you to book a given item at a very low price; they even promise to deliver on time.

And before you realise it, they'd have scammed you huge sums of money.

All you'll be left with is regret and self-blame.

Stay alert on social media.
