A senior county officer in-charge of health in Homabay has died.
Thadayo Nyakwaka who was the head of the laboratory department at Rangwe Sub-County reportedly committed suicide on Saturday.
Reports on the Standard indicate that Nyakwaka took his life by jumping into a well in his compound in Lowe Kayambo location, Ndhiwa Sub-County.
According to area chief Cyprian Obonyo, the suicide came moments after another suicide attempt that was futile.
The chief that Nyakwaka had initially plunged into a pit latrine before his sister rescued him moments before drowning inside the well.
Ndhiwa OCPD Dishon Chadaka noted that a probe has since been launched in a bid to establish the possible cause of his suicide.
The body was moved to the Homabay County referral hospital pending burial.
