A young man who was part of a crowd that gathered on Sunday to listen to Deputy President Dr William Ruto speak in Dagoretti had the honour of mounting his Lexus SUV.

In a YouTube video of what transpired, the man is seen mounting the vehicle, he is then given a microphone to say a few words.

Recognising that this was a lifetime opportunity that may never materialise again any time soon, he capitalised on it.

The man praised DP Ruto, promising to support him in 2022 before he asked the DP for a blessing.

"2022 tunasema ni Ruto. Tumechoka na wazee... Sisi chenye tunaomba ni atubariki. (2022 we are saying it's Ruto. We are tired of old politicians. What we are asking is for him to bless us)," the young man said.

Given his famed generosity with cash, the Deputy President obliged. He hunched over the sunroof and asked to be given some cash which he gave the man who happily disembarked.

DP Ruto attended a church service in Dagoretti South where he was hosted by area MP, former comedian John Kiarie.

He asked the residents to walk with him; coded rhetoric that was aimed at rallying support for his 2022 presidential ambition.
