Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Junior says Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has the Kamba people's blessings to contest for the presidency in 2022.
The youthful senator said the Kamba nation recognizes only Kalonzo as its 2022 presidential flag-bearer.
In an interview on Milele FM on Wednesday, the Makueni Senator said any other Kamba politician seeking to challenge Kalonzo for the country's top seat in the next polls is joking.
Kilonzo Junior said the former Vice President has the experience to contest for the seat and succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He, however, noted that Kalonzo needs the support of top politicians to win in 2022.
Here are the three politicians the Makueni Senator wants to endorse Kalonzo’s presidential bid:
1. President Uhuru Kenyatta
Kilonzo Junior said Wiper party will petition President Kenyatta to endorse Kalonzo's 2022 presidential bid.
He said the Ukambani political kingpin has a good relationship with the president hence fit to take over from him in 2022.
2. Raila Odinga
Kilonzo Junior said it is time for the ODM chief to support Kalonzo in 2022.
He stated that Kalonzo stood with Raila in both 2013 and 2017 general elections.
“Raila has a big debt to pay to Kalonzo and we hope when 2022 comes he will do so,” Kilonzo Junior said.
The Makueni senator asked Raila to honor the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which he signed with Kalonzo in the run-up to 2017 general election.
3. William Ruto
Kilonzo Junior said Deputy President William Ruto should shelve his presidential bid and instead support Kalonzo's in 2022 polls.
He said Kalonzo will easily win if he is supported by DP Ruto among other top politicians.
The Senator said a Kalonzo- Ruto ticket could excite Kenyans, adding that the two leaders are visionary and would champion unity and development.
Kalonzo has been severally quoted stating that he will not shelve his 2022 presidential bid.
He is currently facing a rebellion in his Ukambani home turf.
Kalonzo's party plans to meet next month to address the alleged rebellion in the region and chat the political way forward for the Kamba nation.
