The residents of Wachile Location in Mandera South Sub-County have been hit by a water crisis that has seen them cover long distances to get the life-sustaining commodity.
A good number of the residents come from poor backgrounds and are not in a position to hire vehicles to places where they can get water.
They are now calling on the Mandera County government and the national government to get them piped water or, better still, drill a borehole for them.
"We are in a state of suffering because we don't have water. We are forced to walk as far as El Wak in search of water. Our prayer to the government is to bring us water as it promised before the elections, " Yunus Khatib, a clan elder says.
Quite a number of places face the water crisis even as the Mandera County government promises to address the issue.
"Cooking is a problem. The government should hear our cry and ensure that we have water. This problem has been here with us for the longest time now, " Fatima Mohamed says.
