Signing on behalf of Kisumu County the Deputy Governor Dr. Ochieng Owili said that this collaboration will focus on four therapeutic areas of cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and chronic respiratory diseases.

"The county government has embarked on putting more focus on preventive measures as it also gives quality treatment to existing cases.

"The collaboration will support integrated screening for therapeutic areas at the community level, support training of community health workers, training of healthcare workers, and support enhancement of diagnostic capacity in Kisumu through provision of appropriate diagnostic equipment," he said.

Before his election, Governor Anyang' Nyong'o made it clear that he will work to improve the medical sector in the county.

The MoU therefore takes Nyong'o's administration a step closer to achieving that goal.

The Deputy Governor was accompanied by County Executive in charge of Health and Sanitation Dr Rosemary Obara.

Kisumu becomes the third county to sign the MoU after Makueni and Nyeri.
